The life of a tap girl is a funny thing…each summer we like to embark on a little adventure we affectionately refer to as the 3 Day. Three days of living in the woods, pottying in the woods ;), cooking over an open fire, and spending time in sweet fellowship. The 3 day of 2010 was definitely one to remember! Rain, rain, rain, and more rain. Plus 30 degree temperatures. It was memorable to say the least! But despite the frigidness and constant sky water, this was possibly one of the best 3 days I have been a part of so far in my Tapawingo career. Flav was a constant source of entertainment, as always, with her priceless facial expression of joy due to the weather haha…the consistently missing items such as grates, sierra cups, bear gloves, working water filters, noodles….
I especially loved site one’s hillbilly rigged tarp-off-the-lean to apparatus. My guess is that that was a Joy move. I’m pretty sure all of us will soon be diagnosed with severe carbon dioxide poisoning from the smoke that was flowing oh so smoothly into the lean to. And we can’t forget all the holes and sagging pools of water in the tarp that basically defeated its purpose of covering the fire pit. And better yet, let us not forget the MASSIVE pile of wood you had to bushwack through just to get close to the fire or into the lean to. Madness. Also a Joy move. Love her.
Site three was pretty much the place to be. Miss Kim and I got to know each other pretty well while spooning at night in a failed attempt to stay warm. Miss Kim, you’re a beast. And poor Mini-Sand always lost her bed spot haha! She basically had maybe 4 inches to squeeze into between me and Ali V. and Ali V. found her true calling in life-Wallopping!! I have seriously never seen a more fervent wallopper. It was seriously impressive/entertaining. Our site had the worst wood-not just wet-but soaked. Completely saturated. But thanks to Miss Joy (but really Miss Age) I learned some new tricks to dry out wood, which I was pretty excited about!
We had some sweet testimony and fellowship time. It amazing what a few days in the woods can do for the soul. The Lord has truly blessed the staff this summer. I am so majorly excited to get to know these awesome women better each day, and I am been so amazed already as to how clearly the Lord shows a different side of Himself through each one of us. It was such a wonderful time. Getting away from the chaos of the world, sleeping outside, singing hymns in the lean to before bed, picking leeches off of your water filter…it don’t get much better than that.
There ya go Flav. a little snippet on the 3 day. back to boy’s park!! woo hoo! <3
